Who is Hey Miss?

UTSA Graduation photo

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Michelle and I grew up in Leakey, Texas.  While growing up, I had the opportunity to work with several kids who have special needs.  This is where my love and passion for them grew.  I graduated in 2008 with a very small class of 20 and I was Salutatorian who received a full scholarship from the Cailloux Foundation.  From there I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and Graduated May 13, 2013 with an IDS BA in Special Education EC-12.  I will also be completing my generalist certification EC-6.

With UTSA, I have acquired 100+ hours of observation ranging from self contained classrooms, to BMC (behavior management classroom), to general ed, and to ESY(extended school year). I also completed my student teaching in 2 parts.  The first placement was an Elementary inclusion support and the second placement was High School ALE.

For the 2013-2014 school year, I will be teaching an ALE Middle School class at a School in San Antonio.  I have already found a plethora of information to start my first year of teaching.  I hope to share my student teaching experiences, my extensive Google & Pinterest research, and resources I create during my first year as a Special Education Teacher.

A few fun facts about me:
Siblings: 1
Favorite color: Green
Favorite hobbies: Photography, Rubik's Cubes, fishing, hiking, camping, My craft room: Crocheting, Card making
Favorite Candy: Mike & Ike's, Peanut M&M's

Thanks again for stopping by!

  1. Welcome to teaching! I am also a Special Education teacher. I just moved to San Antonio from Nebraska. I taught ALE (although we call it Functional in NE) for the last 3 years. If you have time, stop by my blog http://texasmiddleschoolconnection.wordpress.com and look around. I will add a link to your button on my page. If you wouldn't mind grabbing mine, I would appreciate it! Thanks! Let me know if you would like to do a guest post in the future. It would be great to have your perspective.
