Who is Miss, Hey Miss?

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I am starting my 5th year teaching in a self-contained classroom in South Texas. I was married November 2017 to my amazing husband, Rob.  We have a white German Shepherd who is a big teddy bear!  In my spare time I enjoy camping, hiking, photography, graphic design, crafting, baking, using my Instant pot and Netflix binges.

I have a younger sister who is in the midst of obtaining her Audiology doctorate.  Our parents have always been loving and supportive of all our endeavors.

I grew up in a small church family, spend most of my childhood with children-babysitting and going to camps.  I was also involved in a variety of extracurricular activities including yearbook, Student Council, National Honor Society, piano and ballet. In 2008, I graduated from High school as Salutatorian and received a full scholarship from the Cailloux family in Kerrville, Texas.

I then headed off to attend UTSA to recieve my B.A. in Interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in special education.  While at UTSA, I acquired 100+ hours of observation ranging from BMC(behavior management classroom), to general ed, and to ESY(extended school year).

Since graduating in 2013, I taught 3 years at NEISD in a self contained unit called ALE (Adapted Learning Environment). In 2016, I switched districts and started an ALE unit at one of the intermediate schools in SCUCISD.

That's me in a nutshell! Thanks for reading through and if you have any other questions or comments, feel free to let me know!

  1. Welcome to teaching! I am also a Special Education teacher. I just moved to San Antonio from Nebraska. I taught ALE (although we call it Functional in NE) for the last 3 years. If you have time, stop by my blog http://texasmiddleschoolconnection.wordpress.com and look around. I will add a link to your button on my page. If you wouldn't mind grabbing mine, I would appreciate it! Thanks! Let me know if you would like to do a guest post in the future. It would be great to have your perspective.
