Liebster Award Nomination

I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Carla from Surviving Sixth Grade! I'm really excited, because it's my first blog award!! I will be honest, this is my first time hearing about the Liebster Award! If you haven't heard of it either, keep on reading...

I was nominated by Carla from Surving Sixth Grade.

Here are the Questions posted from Carla:

  1. What was your favorite subject in school?
    • My absolute favorite subject in school was Math! My teacher was fantastic!
  2. What is your favorite song right now? The one that you blast in the car riding down the street!
    • I'm loving the entire album 'Babel' from Mumford & Sons.
  3. What’s your favorite place to vacation?
    • I love the beach! I can vacation anywhere I'm able to camp!
  4. What’s your most memorable teaching moment?
    • My most memorable teaching moment was my first daycare job. I was in charge of the after-school kids & it's too hot to go outside and  I didn't have a specific lesson laid out, so I improvised! (During the summer, the after school kids stayed in the church fellowship hall until closing) We took paper, rolled it up into binoculars and we explored! I lead the exploration up and down the halls of the church into rooms that held treasures, dangers, and learning experiences.  Now, if the kids actually learned something-I hope so! I do know they could retell a jungle exploration story with some crazy imagination!  Considering it to be my first daycare job...I give myself a pat on the back for a job well done in improvisation!
  5. What are your hobbies?
    • I enjoy photography, rubik's cubes, & creating things in my craft room!
  6. What was your first job?
    • I babysat a summer in 7th / 8th grade.
  7. Who makes up your family?
    • Mom-Tracy, Dad-Harold, Sister-Kendra, Boyfriend-Rob, Dob-Olive(Scottish Terrier), Beat fish-Jolly Rancher
  8. Who was your favorite teacher and why?
    • This is tough! I have had so many great teachers! I think it's a tie between my Math teacher that taught me 6th-12th grade & my ballet teacher.  They were both inspiring, supportive, loving and tough(when needed).  I wouldn't have graduated college if it wasn't for them!
  9. What’s the best piece of teacher advice you ever received?
    • This past spring, I was student teaching the first day our coordinator told us to "Think of Gumby." I have found it to be the most inclusive statement for teaching!  "Always be cheerful, be flexible & be patient."
  10. What’s the last movie you watched? What were your thoughts?
    • I watched World War Z on July 4th.  I thought the movie was pretty good! I haven't ready the book, which is why I thought the movie was decent. My boyfriend on the other hand disliked the movie, it wasn't as explicit with the details as the book was.
  11. If you could be any animal what would it be and why?
    • This is tough! I think it would be fun to be a hummingbird.  I've been told I can never stay still, so this would be perfect for me! (Plus I really dig sweet stuff & that's all they eat!!)

Here are 11 random facts about myself:

  1.  I graduated 2nd in high school with a class of 20 students. My town has a population ~400 people.
  2.  I can solve a 3x3 Rubik's cube in 1min 28seconds.
  3.  I took ballet lessons for 10 years, and took piano lessons for 6 years.
  4.  I have green eyes, although sometimes they look yellow! :o
  5.  My mom & her sister are hard of hearing and have worn hearing aids since they were little.  They had an allergic reaction to penicillin, which damaged the follicles in their ears-leaving them with hearing loss. I was then introduced into the deaf culture and I learned a lot of sign language from my mom & aunt.
  6.  I'm addicted to the internet. Seriously. I love to blog and pin. I have a Pinterest account  for my photography, teaching and personal interests!
  7.  If it's green...I'll love it. I drool over anything that is green (hence all the green on my blog!)
  8.  I have watched all episodes of Gilmore Girls, 7th Heaven, Scrubs, That 70's Show & Boy Meets world! (Yet I don't have cable...)
  9.  While growing up, my sister & I showed pigs for 4-H.
  10. I honestly don't care for reading books. (Don't shun me!) I know, I'm a teacher..it doesn't make sense!  I understand and realize the importance of reading, and will instill this into my students, but I always fall asleep when I read and it gets frustrating. I find it much easier to read on an electronic device-I'm more alert & attentive. I also have trouble reading for pleasure, I seem to always read for informational and research purposes.
  11. Sweets & desserts are a very big weakness of mine! I can't stay away from them!!

Here are 11 questions for my nominees:
