Big News!

My tummy is so full! I just got back home from eating a delicious meal at the The Cheesecake factory & wishing my boyfriend, Rob a happy 25th birthday!

North Star Mall
San Antonio, Tx

Okay, now onto the wonderful news.  This past Friday, Rob asked a very important question:  "Will you marry me?"

Of course I said, "Yes!"

I was nervous, excited, and blown away by his planning and secrecy!! My family was just as excited as I was and for the one millionth time, we haven't set a date but I guess I should put it as a priority on my list of things to do in 2014!

Now for the fun part...pictures!

Now onto all of the wedding planning, first I need help picking a hash tag. My last name is Bingham & his is Kolodziejczyk. I'm gonna keep it as simple as possible...

What a wonderful way to ring in the new year! How are you spending New Years' eve? Tell me in a comment below!

Until next year...

Happy Christmas & a Merry New Year!

Happy Christmas & a Merry New Year!

By the 2nd day of this vacation, I was getting pretty jittery just sitting around watching TV.  So I had to come up with a list a pile of things to do for the next week and a half! Since this pile has been created I have been a busy bee. My days are feeling very jumbled together!  The only reason I know it's Thursday is because I looked at the calendar! I do know it's the day after Christmas and tomorrow I will finally get to visit my parents & sister to spend Christmas with them. The past few days have been busy here in SA with friends and my Bf's family.

So anyways, since I love photos here are a few pics of the past week:

Surprise chocolates from my boyfriend, Rob!

I recently got addicted to cutting vinyl with my silhouette cameo! These are my 2 newest car stickers. :D

My sweet little Olive got her hair cut! (Please tell me how she balances on the edge of the couch!) I'm afraid she might fall off

I went shopping & wrapped all the Christmas presents for my family!

I also went to visit an ortho surgeon to talk about getting my wisdom teeth removed. I have one tooth turned completely sideways...and it's painful!

Super cute ear warmers I made!

I got to cuddle with a lot of cute puppies!!

Even more puppies!

If you needed something to do over your holiday break, check back often because I will be adding some long overdo TpT / TN files that have saved my life this 1st semester! I will also be sharing some super awesome insights I learned during my first 18 weeks of teaching!

Classroom Banners

Hello! I promise I'm still here. I didn't fall of the face of the earth. I spent last week in my classroom!!  :D :D Which alternatively means I was a terrible blogger!

The teacher I will be working with also hung out with me as we moved furniture and sorted through 6 filing cabinets of stuff. I think it's safe to say, "Back to school is in full swing!" I'll share some photos later this week!

I am always seeing ideas on Pinterest and blogs of classrooms and I feel like I'm behind on setting things up and getting everything ready. Then this week and next week is teacher training / in service. Does anyone else feel behind and we haven't even really started?  I keep worrying I'm going to mess up the first day disastrously! (I've had nightmares. In this case, I hope dreams/nightmares don't come true.) My cousin who teaches Jr. High Science assured me you will never feel 'ready.' She is starting her 9th year and she says, "you never feel 100% ready no matter how much planning & prep you do.  Work on what you can get done and don't stress about the rest." I thought that was pretty good advice! So I decided to make something fun for Make it Monday instead of trying to plan something I'm not 100% sure I will be able to use.

Currently...Saturday Snapshots

I love linky blog posts...don't you? They are enjoyable and informative! :) Today I'm sharing my August currently from Oh' Boy 4th grade and also sharing some snapshots from this week with Run! Miss Nelson's got the camera!

This week I made a new desktop background!

I also updated my blog! :)  Check out the before & after!

I was also crazy busy moving around my craft room, organizing all my notes, books, and papers from college and the daycare I used to work at.

I also created these super cute Pinterest board covers! Find out how you can download your own!

Lastly, today I will be photographing a wedding! I'm super excited, this will be my 4th wedding. I also booked my 5th wedding for October! :D I love being a photographer.

I'm loving summer-it's so relaxing!
I'm thinking about the wedding I will be photographing this evening. this will be my 4th wedding!
I'm wanting a few more days before I have to begin working on stuff at school.

DIY Pinterest Board Covers

Hello teachers!! It has been a few days since I've posted anything. I have been busy! I switched my craft room around and it's taken me almost the whole week to purge stuff from other teachers, college, and HIGH SCHOOL!! (You know...the stuff you love, but never touch.) I am very proud of myself. I donated 4 boxes & 1 bag full of stuff to goodwill. I also threw out 3 bags of PAPERS! I am a hoarder when it comes to collecting papers.  Then it hit me....I have GOOGLE! :) It's more efficient to use Google than try to remember and find what I took notes on or have copied 2 years ago. Ok, enough about my hoarding, onto the real meat of the post...

Storing Bulletin Board letters

I'm linking up with 4th grade frolics to share my Monday Made it! It has been crazy these past few days! My grandmother had a stroke and was admitted into the hospital last Wednesday.  She is doing much better, but still waiting on the doctors approval before going into in-house therapy.  I also have been switching my craft room around and updating my blog! I almost forgot I should be blogging! This is what I made this week:

Liebster Award #2!

I was nominated for the Liebster Award again! ;) Here is my first award so you can read what this award is.
This time, I was nominated by Jimmy from Teacher in the City.

Here are the Q's Jimmy asked me:

1. What would you do differently in your first year of teaching, if any? Or if you are currently going to be a first year teacher, what is the one thing that you are most definitely going to do?
I have a huge list of things I want to do, since it's my first year I already feel myself becoming overwhelmed because I have no idea how teachers fit everything into ~180 days!! :o I would love to have a strong classroom management plan and have my students well versed in our classroom transitions and routines. I have always struggled with these, and I'm hoping if I can teach them right my students will have a successful year.

2. What grade/subject do you teach now?

I teach JR High Special Education

3. Why did you decide to blog, and how long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging for almost 18 months. I love it! I wanted to create a resource for my classmates and for future student teachers. I'm also loving connecting with other teachers around the globe who teach and share a passion for children and blogging!

4. What is your favorite book?
I don't read that often, but I've always loved the outsiders. I know everyone probably says that, but my HS English teacher was amazing and did some really fun projects with this book. Also, Fahrenheit 451 is a fantastic book!

5. Where would you most like to travel to?
Ireland & Alaska!!

6. What’s your favorite technology app to use in class (or what do you plan to use)?
I'm going to try Class Dojo & see how it goes! :)

7. How do you relieve your stress?
Pedicures with my sister. I also love to go out and take pictures, play in the craft room or spend hours sitting on the couch watching TV and solve one of the Rubik's cubes in my collection.

8. Do you have any funny teacher stories?
At my last placement for student teaching, I was working with High School students in ALE (self contained).  One student, who was 6'1",  a great reader, highly verbal and loved to talk about bugs, insects and animals was talking to me one day before class let out.  He asked me, "why are you pretending to be a teacher?" I told him, "I'm learning to be a teacher! I'm still a student in college, but once I graduate I will be a teacher." He responded, "NO. You're not a teacher. You're too short to be a teacher and you talk like a girl." I just smiled and said, "are you ready for the zoo field trip next week?" It took all of my strength not to laugh, but he really was confused and I don't think the title 'student teacher' helps anyone, especial if they have a disability! :D

9. How do you pick your blog topics?
I feel they are random. It's whatever pops into my head, sometimes it's what I'm working on for school that week, or I get inspired pictures or by other blogs on the web.

10. Are you PC or Mac (or something else)?
PC! (Android for my phone!) I had a mac, but switched over, I can do soooo much more with a PC.

11. How do you collaborate with other teachers?
I love to soak in information from others.  Everyone has a different background, therefore a different point of view and input.  I also like to a resource to others. I'm always grabbing info and handing it out, you never know when a random piece of info can become useful down the road!

Here are my 11 random facts:

  1.  I love onions. When I was little, I would sit by the river & eat the whole onion like an apple!
  2.  I'm only 5'3". My younger sister is 5'8". We like to ask random people who the older sister is, without fail they say her.
  3.  I graduated high school as Salutatorian in a class of 20, the Valedictorian was from El Salvador ..I didn't have a chance!
  4.  I'm 1/16th Cherokee Indian.
  5.  I LOVE green!! If it's green, I'll buy it. (even if I don't need it)
  6.  I'm obsessed with sticky notes. I have a stack of 20+ on my desk (at home). There is no telling how many I'll have at school.
  7.  I love taking pictures! It's kinda my part time job. :) You can check out my photography page (although I haven't posted anything in a while. ) :/
  8.  I'm running out of random facts!!
  9.  I would love to adopt a child who has down syndrome :)
  10.  I want to go skydiving and ride in a hot air balloon. I'm not sure how these are going to happen because I'm scared of heights!
  11. My dad and I both played in our church band. He played base and I played piano.

My blog nominees:

Nominees, please answer these questions:

  1.  What/Who made you decide to be a teacher?
  2.  Where did you grow up?
  3.  What is your favorite holiday?
  4.  On Pinterest, what board to you pin to most frequently?
  5.  Google, Yahoo, or Bing? Other?
  6.  What kind of vehicle do you drive? Does this say anything about your personality?
  7.  Do you have any special talents?
  8.  Mechanical pencil or old school #2?
  9.  When you were a child, what did you 'want to be when you grew up'?

Thanks for reading all about me & my Liebser Award! Check back tomorrow...there are big changes coming to my blog!! :)

Hello, anxiety & nervousness!

Next week is August!! Yikes. I see so many teachers working on classroom stuff! Some teachers are already in their classroom and others even know their kids names.

When I realized this, I began to feel very nervous and anxious about my first year teaching in my own classroom with my own students and paras!! I'm hoping my school will let me in when they start back up next week so I can begin on my class and learn more info about my students! **Fingers crossed**

Still feeling very stressed, I decided to do some research! I wonder where I went for research?

Miss, Hey Miss on Instagram!!

Miss, Hey Miss! on Instagram!

What's up Wednesday? How's summer treating you? The weather in Texas was beautiful yesterday-cool & rainy! (That's better than 100+ degrees with 80%+ humidity!)

I'm sharing a quick post today to tell you, I'm on Instagram. I've had my own personal Instagram for over a year, and couldn't decide if I wanted to share my personal and professional Instagram together or make a new one just for teaching. Then I started looking for teachers on Instagram & found teacher hash tags everywhere!  I didn't want to bore or clog up my friends feed with a bunch of teacher stuff!
So I decide to make a new account just for Miss, Hey Miss.

You can follow Miss, Hey Miss on Instagram! If you want to follow more awesome blogging educators like myself, check out this linky post form April 2013 that was put together by What the Teacher wants  and Apples and ABC's.

Comment below & share your Instagram so we can know what's up!
Don't forget to use hash tags when you post! (Hash tags make it super easy to find photos like yours!)

Here are a few other hash tags teachers are using:

FYP: For the teacher binder

Miss, Hey Miss! Teacher Binder files

Monday I shared my newly created teacher binder! I decided to stick with my craftiness and create my own instead of downloading anything from the internet and printing it. I talked about each section of my teacher binder & what items go in each section. Please, keep in mind I am a first year teacher and this will more than likely change. I would much rather be over prepared and have a rough outline compared to not having anything ready and stressing!

Alright, lets start with the FREEBIE! :) I know everybody loves freebies! I am sharing my goal overview sheet. What's the use & idea behind this sheet? I am planning on using it in my Teacher Binder under the section 'Centers & Stations'. As I'm planning centers, stations, and work areas I want to be able to match the tasks to the students goals. What's the easiest way to do that?! THE GOAL OVERVIEW SHEET! It's the quickest, easiest, and most convenient sheet ever!

Take the students goals from their IEP, place it into the goal sheet & place into binder! Every time a goal changes or is accomplished, edit the file & re-print. Now you don't have to sort through meeting paper work to find goals & objects! (I know... your welcome!)

Here's how you can get this handy little goal overview sheet:

Make it Monday: Teacher Binder

Teacher Binder by Miss, Hey Miss!

This past week I completed the major components of my teacher binder.  There are still a few things I need to add, but I cannot do so until I learn more about my classroom for the upcoming year.  I have been drooling over all the cute teacher binder sets on Pinterst, but I have a dilemma. My colored printer is out of ink and my HP Laserjet is out of toner.  I even ordered new toner, but I'm getting an error message. So until I start my teaching job, and get a consistent pay check, printing is on hold.  With all of that being said, I know I can go to UPS, Kinkos or Office Depot/Max, I just didn't feel it was necessary when I can be creative and create my own alternative!  What was my solution to the 'no printer' situation?! My Silhouette Cameo came to the rescue! Keep reading to find out what how I made my binder for Make it Monday!

Saturday Snapshots

Hello weekend! :) Come join Mrs. Nelsons' Got the Camera  with her weekly Saturday Snapshots!

I started my week of shopping at one of my FAVORITE stores! :) I had my graduation party last month and got some gift cards & I finally had the opportunity to go shopping!

This week I also visited with HR, signed a few papers & received more info on New Employee training! :) 2 weeks and I can attend that! I'm excited.

I love doing photography on the side, I got my 2nd flash in this week & made my own set of gels! I can't wait to use them this week when I go back to Leakey!

3 yr anniversary/Date night! :) This is the outfit I bought from JcPenny! :)  (excuse the terrible bathroom pic)

On the way to Alamo draft house!

I am back in my home town of Leakey, Tx.  When my sister & I get together, we almost always bake.  This time we made Red Velvet cupcakes.  Mainly because we wanted creme cheese frosting, but also because it was 4th of July! They turned out delicious! (Trying to make the icing pretty was a different story!) Also, who knew you put vinegar in this recipe? It was a shocker to me too!  Needless to say, my mother was happy vinegar was being used! She is a vinegar lover :D

There's my Saturday snapshot! Don't forget to share your links w/ Mrs. Nelsons' Got the Camera!
